Knock Sesor Location Help

Hey Guys I have a 2k Silverado Z-71. The other day I got Check engine light that told me I had a bad Knock sensor... I got the part but can locate it on the engine. 5.3L Vortec....Help Please I'm a rookie.

OK I found out it's inside the intake manifold....I'm screwd now LOL

I don't know for sure, but i do know that on a 5.7 it is above the starter on the passenger side.

You are correct sir. It's inside the manifold. Better take that sucker in and let them change it if you don't have any experience with tearing into these suckers. :biggrin: Good luck

it is under the intake manifold, there are 2 of them, you have to r+r the intake to get at them, if u have the money put a magnacharger supercharger kit on it while your at it you'll love your truck even more

They come up through two holes on the top engine plate under the intake manifold. I had no idea where they were until the swap, then I realized what a pain in the butt they would be to replace if one would ever go out.
Surely you're talking about the Radix, eh? Nice charger, but the new turbo kit is the way to go, and the sts kit is $4000. That thing is bad!

yes the radix setup, i love it, no lag, power right from the start, they didn't have the turbo setup when i was looking for a replacement for the crappy powerdyne s/c i had on it, just need to get the smaller pully and a nelson tune, and maybe put the nitrace back on, but i don't know if the fuel system will be able to keep up enough to aviod a lean burn, i already melted the piston and rings together once already
