Ticking / Lifter Solution!

Alright.. some of you may know this, some may not. Either way.. this is how i got my lifters to stop ticking.. without having to buy new ones.
I was talking to my friends dad, about how my car has this horrible ticking due to the lifters. He is a mechanic and everything so he knew what i was talking about. He said a few years ago that he had a supra and everytime you would start it up that it would have this loud ticking.. then get quiter.. then loud. etc.. and he said that he solved it easily.. that he found this stuff to put in to your car when you do an oil change.. called Engine Repair. So.. i thought that this could be the one way to solve my ticking problem.. so when i was getting my car fixed because it wouldnt start i told them to do an oil change and handed them a bottle of this. They put it in.. 2 days later i get my car.. start it up.. ticking is gone! If you dont believe me give it a try .. bottle isnt all that expensive.

there's a few things on the market that will remove the ticking for a while(months) but afterawhile, it usually comes back, especially if due for a oil change

It also could be because you changed you oil because when i change the oil in my stealth the ticking stops

sounds like a good solution, however it seems that its only temporary FIX, rather than completely eliminating the problem. Although we do not have any evidence as of yet to suggest that this 'engine repair' stuff will not prevent the ticking from returning, i'm quite skeptical. We all know that there are ticking problems in 1st and 2nd gen cars b/c of the poor design of the lifters: that is there is not enough room for sufficien lubrication of the lifters...this was solved with the 3rd gen lifter (3mm dimple as opposed to 1mm of previous generations).
So if there is another SURE solution out there that FIXES the problem completely w/o having to upgrade to 3rd gen lifters, then i'm all ears. This "Engine Repair" stuff MIGHT be the solution, but definitely let us know if the ticking ever returns. Because right now, we know its a temporary solution, but i'm all about the long term, b/c i don't wanna have to repeat the temporary solution every time the tick comes back.
