does anyone know where to buy lightly used or decent new trannies???

is it just better to rebuild the whole thing. i just got a used 240sx hatch i think ill just go for the ka turboed up for smog reasons and more raw power. so if anyone knows where to get complete rebuilds for the engine or new or lightly used ones please let me know

just go with the ka turboed?? do you know what you're dealing with here?
just kidding.. its quite a step though.. go to www.phatka-t.com for a start.. other guys will post other links.. you gotta learn what you need before you buy anything.. figure out what kind of driving you want to do.. i'm assuming daily driver, so buy according to that

yea i do know what i am dealing with i have done a bit of reading on the ka engine.

i knows its a bit of work toget it turboed but if u take the price of a swap and the hassels of passing smog. you can build the ka up just as well. my 240 has 120k miles yea i know i got a while before it gives out but if i were to do an overhaul on the engine the tranny is next to worry about.. i would rather by a lightly used ka then a sr20 less headaches for me to worry about

very true.. there are 2 ways you can go, and one will cost more than the other
1) rebuild the ka you have now with new internals and everything ready to go for turbo
2) buy another ka (like you were suggesting), do the internals on that and swap it in when its ready, that way you have an extra engine if something fucks up

the only difference would be the cost of the engine and swap (assuming you're getting somebody to do it). if you're doing it yourself then the whole thing might only cost $500 extra to get the extra ka..

i kno this is off topic but what engine would u consider best the ka or the sr20 the ra for street racing(small amouts) and eventually drifting even i can learn to drive?

its a toss up.. for drifting, ca18det i think is best.. cause it performs real well at high rpms.. but for street, they both have lots of pros and very few cons.. we've had endless discussions about ka vs sr.. look through threads from august and september and you'll probably find a whole lotta shit there.. that way we don't have to go through the 3 month argument again

Why does everyone say rpms? It's RPM, even in plural, cause you don't say revolutions per minutes, it's revolutions per minute.

KA internals are good up to 250whp for reliable everyday street driving w/ some racing. They have been proven to hold 400whp but don't go there. It won't work for you. I just saw a guy one one of the other forums run a 13.3@110 in person with stock internals. That was at 12psi. Just make sure your compression is good.
