hey, i just bought a 71 chevelle in pretty good condition. no major rust or ne thing like that. But there is a lot of surface rust on the under-carriage. Whats a good thing i can do about the rust without spending much money. any help would be awsome. Thanks.

well you said its on the undercarriage. well i would take some sand paper and scuff the rust off. Then get some primer and paint over the places where you just sanded. that should be a simple fix. you may even try some rubberized undercoating if you are into a good look...

por-15 is great but I would knock of the scale and wire brush it a little befor painting you can paint with a brush but make sure to were rubber gloves..... you will be wearing it for a long time.

yeah im 17 so i have a classic mcdonalds job. i always walk in there with cured por 15 stuck all over my hands. i swear to god it takes for ever to get that stuff off!!! i did my floorboards with that stuff and i used the marine clean and metal ready stuff that they say to use and i swear its impossible to scratch off to bare metal now!!!
basically, if you have 120 bucks to burn and you want to make a completely rustproof car restoration, buy a gallon of por 15 and also the metal ready and marine clean products at the online store from them. i have an old chevy truck with floor supports under the floorboards and i HAMMERED DIRECTLY ON THE SURFACE OF THE PAINT AS HARD AS I COULD... AND IT DIDNT CHIP OFF OR SCRATCH THRU THE POR 15 at all!!!!!! i almost crapped my pants lol!!!
