Hooking Up

I brought my car out to the track last weekend hoping to get into the mid 13's beating my best of 13.8 which was accomplished in 102 degree heat. Now that it's winter I figured I'd get better times but damn I couldn't hook up for the life of me. It was around 50 degrees outside, I figured the cold pavement had something to do with it?

When I ran a 13.8 ET in the summer my 60 ft was 2.06 sec with a trap speed of 100.5 MPH. Now my 60 ft increased to 2.52 sec with a trap speed of 102.1 and a crappy ET of 13.98. 1st gear was about useless as I had bad wheel spin all the way into 2nd gear.

I run 275 Nitto drag radials and I tried 12-15 psi up to 35 psi. I'd get bad wheel hop with lower pressure and still couldn't hook up. I didn't even rev upon launch and feathered the clutch plenty. Either I took off too slow to get a good ET or spun the wheels.

Thoughts and suggestions? BTW the suspension is all stock.

Its very hard to be consistant with a 5 speed to much rpm to little etc. The cold pravement pry had alittle to do with the bad launch.

I think the track sucked. The returns had a lot of dirt. I noticed I now have melted rubber with little grains of sand embedded in my tires. Hmmm, probably had something to do with it. I ran at a track called Speedworld (1st time there) and it doesn't quite compare to Firebird Intl.
