'95 Blazer, long starts, bad milage

Ok...I don't know all the problems with this 95 4.3 4x4 blazer, because it is my brothers. But a couple months ago, it started getting bad milage, somewhere in the 14 mpg range, and it takes long time to start, and just runs poorly some of the time. And other times it runs just fine, some times he get milage in the 19 range. When he started it when the engine was cold and it was cold outside (about 28) it smoked white smoke and and sounded like it was only hitting on 5 of the 6 cyl. I believe he has replaced the plugs, wires, fuel filter, and maybe the cap and roter. and last time he came home, he has hooked it up to our Snap On scanner and it didn't register any problems.

More than likely it's the CPI unit (or nut kit).. Pull your upper plenum and look for signs of washing. (Where one side is cleaner than the other). If the driver's side is washed it's your CPI unit, if it's the passenger side it's your nut kit. Though if you replace the CPI you should also replace the nut kit as a matter of course. You have the classic symptoms for it.

Nut kit is on the driver's side, regulator on the passenger.

Either way, any washing isn't right.

You're right!!!! Wasn't paying attention to my typing... Passenger side=cpi, driver's side=Nutkit! Doh!
