I have a 1997 Vr4 with 69500miles on it. I need a new clutch and i was wonderin if u guys can tell me which ones r good. I am lookin maybe doin some mods to my car later on and i dont think i am going to go over 500hp and my car is bone stock right now.

1) do u guys think i should buy a flywheel?(is it worth $500)or i should spen that money on something eles like intake or exahust?

2) What brand clutch ACT or RPS?(or other)

3) How much did u guys pay for the labor for u r clutch?(was it at the dealership)

4) Which do i really need?1.Street disk 2.Solid Hub 3. Sprung Hub

Most of the racing i am going to do is street and i drive this car every day so i dont want to be something that is to strong but i wanted to do be good when i ever i want to race the car.

my budget is about $500 just for the clutch

Please tell me which ones r good?

I hope your not basing the decision to buy another clutch simply on my guess that your clutch may be slipping...I recommended waiting for more replies.

But to your original question, check out www.3sxperformance.com they have great descriptions about their clutches abilities...also check out 3si.org Skim through some old threads about clutches...I know I found quite a few awhile back, comparing ACT and RPS.

Are you sure you need a new clutch? i thought mine was out, when actually it was my slave cylinder that was shot. however, i replaced the clutch anyways b/c it hadn't been changed in 70k miles, and so i would have needed to replace it very soon after, so i had it done at that time.

i didn't want to spend a whole lot, and since i only have a base 3000, i just got an OEM Exedy clutch from eclutchmaster.com. Got it for $140 i think, REALLY good deal, clutch works great! check his site for upgrades, he sells racing clutches too.

Go to a decent shop...not a dealership...they will tell you the most expensive possible fix...probably say you need a new clutch and tranny, "but hey we can do all that right here for just under $7,000"

Dealerships SUCK!...that is my professional opinion.

LOL, I went to the dealer ship today and they told me that it is the clutch and they said $400 for a stock clutch and $550 for fuckin labor and i just starting lauging and they dident think it was funny, and i was like thank u and left, i know a guy that can do it for about 250 and he is workin on trannys for the last 20 year and i know dose fuckin idioits at the dealer ship dont have any kind of experience. Anyways i order some Heavy duty street clutch ACT and the was $525. I hope its a good clutch.
