If your check engine light doesn't work, can you still see if your car's throwing a code on the computer?

i've heard of some ecu's having led's or something, but i'm sure mine didn't on the exterior - i didn't lift the top on my p13 though, perhaps inside? anyone else can field this one?
I do have my p14 handy however - and lifting the top reveals no led...
so it's the MIL(f) or nufin. (see my other post)
throughout all this - i'm not sure if you dropped the year of your car - perhaps you did and i didn't catch it - but if you have a 96+ prelude you could catch the code from a obd2 scanner (like 30 bux or something).
