I do not know much about engines but I am good at fixing things....here is the problem....
My 2000 mustang knocks everytime I accellerate. The problem is worse with 87 octane gas..and goes away with 93 octane. I do not wish to keep using higher octane gas and was hopeful it was a simple problem to fix. Any ideas?

Check your timing it might be advanced. Did you buy the car used or brand new, GT or v6?

you need some tune ups!! I had this problem although I was using the 91 octane!! what you would need to do is change or double check on you sparks plugs, get the OEM Ford ones and also change the Fuel filter. im hoping that would help.
good luck
