How many Mazdaspeed Protege were produced?

How many were produced? I know that Mazda made 1500 MP3's but how many Mazdaspeeds? I ask because Im very intrested in this car.

i hate how Mazda numbers the 2750 MSP's and the the 1500 MP3's but Ford doesnt number the 2106 S/R's :(
