heater works on 2 speed

HELP i need it bad....my heater is only working on the 2 top speed and it is making mad i checked my fuse in the car dash. what else can i do.

i guess it would help if people knew what type of car i have in the post...it is a sunfire 95.

Same thing happened on mine recently. You need a new blower resistor, which can be found at a GM dealership/scrapyard. You have to remove the fan from underneath the passenger side dash to gain access to the resistor which you will see once the fan is pulled out. There are two screws holding it in which are a little trick to get to unless you have a flexible shaft ratchet or something like that. Replace that with the new one and all should be good.

Yes, that resistor does fix this problem. I had a Chilton manual which has a nice exploded diagragm (except it only shows 1 screw- actually there are 2). I guess the lower speeds require the most resistance to drop the voltage to the motor which is why the slowest speeds burn out first. My Fan only had 1 speed left. It was eaither on full-blast or off totally. But do yourself a favor and get a 1/4" U-joint for your socket wrench (or better yet your cordless screw-gun)before attempting to get the old one out. Those screws suck, especially when you have to sit upside-down in the shotgun seat with your head dragging on the carpet.
