1995 cutlass ciera engine stooping

Hi,

I am driving along and suddenly the engine stops. No warning, no rumbling, the engine simply stops. couple of seconds later, all of the displays light up. the radio continues to play. so there is power, its not getting to the engine. I have replaced the fuel filter, clean out the throttle body with a carb cleaner. Nothing. some mornings the car starts right up. Other it takes a couple of tries to get it going. Can anyone help before I take to mechanic and do a full service to find out whats wrong.

That said, I'd say to check electrical/battery connections. With it suddenly dying out, and a short delay between the dying and the radio coming back it sounds like something electrical.
