speaker interference

I'm a 95 Olds Aurora owner, but I'm writing this for my father, a DIE-HARD 2002 Grand Prix GTP owner. Its his dream car. Here's my question.
In Dad's GTP there is a whine when the engine is running. It comes through the speakers (Bose stereo). The pitch of the whine goes up and gets slightly louder when accelerating. As soon as the radio is turned off, the whine goes away completely. If the radio is on but the car is turned off, there is no whine. Is there some wire shielding that could be missing somewhere? Is there anything I can check? The radio works fine and the car runs fine, but the whine is a little annoying.
Thanks.

Bad Ground Wire...
Check the one on the radio - it screws into a bracket - its the black one with a eye hole end... u will see it ... check the ground if not ur ground on the battery terminal is bad - check it for freys or looseness or corrosion.... if the wires look all wacky by the terminal end just put a new on it - if its corrosion buy the tool an clean up the terminals ...ect....
good luck
the only way u get engine noise in ur speakers if from a bad ground... cause it will either make a hum noise or a whine noise like u say if u have bad ground because i am positive. as the RPM's go up so does the pitch an the freq. level of the noise it gets louder an higher the faster the engine moves ......
