.http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/3280/203672114m.jpgThis is the Revell RatRods kit in 1:25 scale.
The inspiration for getting this project under way was a TV programme i saw on the Discovery channel about some guys who build rat rods.
The first things i needed to do was to make some new chassis parts because i don't want to use the big old wheel arches. This meant making all the stuff that sits in between those wheel arches out of some sheet styrene. Also i did a rough roof chop which i will be adding filler to and sanding to a smooth surface. Also this came with lots of optional parts which included a soft top roof, which i butchered for the rear window.
This is the original roof height.

And this is the new height.

And this is how it kinda looks together, in a very basic way.

looks good Tikiman! but you need to do as they did in the programe. section it or what they caled it and then drop it over the frame. I am looking forward to this one!

Yes, i'm going to do that. But first i need to figure out how to drop the front down at the same time. The one that they did the front end (radiator) and engien were dropped aswell to keep the bonnet line the same all the way. And maybe the flat bed needs lowering the same. What do you think?
It would definitely be great to get a little help with this one.

Nice one! I saw that one to and I must say your fast out of the starting blocks! But hey! Don't let Burbank Choppers know you called their cars rat rods or you'll have an argument coming your way :grinyes: Looking good and I must say that the car they built was a really cool ride, wouldn't mind having one of thoose myself. Good to see something else besides imports and race cars.

Just a little update showing how i've filled and sanded the gaps out of the body. The body is nearly ready for paint now, just got to chop the doors.

Here's where i am so far. I started priming but ran out of primer btw.
Also i have still got to lower the body down over the frame. And i am still not sure if i will use the wheels in the pics or some steelies that also came with the kit.

The white line here is where the frame used to be and the red line is to more clearly show where the frame has been dropped to.

Look'n neat!!
If you're needing to lower the cab more, you can also raise the floor of the cab. The rest will drop down over the chassis.

Some more updates. It's coming together now so i tried a mock up.
Don't know if i should even up the stance or leave it leaning forward. Any suggestions?

The stance is REAL mean, I like it.
If you want to make it a little less agressive, lower the back a tad.

I'm leaving the stance as it is. There's not much left to do now. The main thing is deciding on a colour. I was thinking of a vivid green colour or yellow with a black or beige interior.

Nah! Leave it to mature for a while and then see if you want to do some pinstriping, scallops or what ever suites the style. I think it looks good as is, good work...and fast for that matter.
