Dear All
On one hand , I happen to love the old Volkswagen beetle "the BUG" .On the other hand , I can only drive automatic transmission cars "never learned how to handle 3 pedals".
My question , is it possible to install automatic transmission on an old beetle? . My assumption is that it would be a major customization process. My other assumption is that I would need to replace the engine and the transmission module.
Any precedents ? , any suggestions about what engine to use? .
Thanx

'68 to '79 Beetles had automatics (officially semi-automatics) available as an option. Some are still around.

Convert a standard to an automatic? Wowsers! I once help convert an automatic to a standard; a fairly involved job.
I'm thinking it might be easier to learn the three pedal shuffle and keep the standard. Knowing how to drive a standard is kinda' handy anyway.
Either way, good luck!
