Turbo question

Just a quick question.
I heard that the turbos from diesel engines can be transferred to gasoline engines of the same size block.
If this is true, how much, if any modification needs to be performed?
I assume this may be true for big blocks, but what about small blocks?
If the turbos can be fitted to the engines with relative ease, why is this not common knowledge? (assuming that things requiring effort are not commonly talked about in a good way)
If anyone has any info, it would be very much appreciated.
I apologize for the vagueness of the question as well.

as far as i knew turbos were universal due to the fact that they go on your talepipe for power, so yes i guess with a few mods you could do it

i guess if you want a more professional answer you could alwase contact the dealership or a scrap yard and see what they say, remember though from scrap yards get more then one opinion some of those guys are real winners (and by winners i mean idiots)

671 Detroit jimmy diesels, they would take the blowers off of them and make superchargers out of them. Block sizes were/are not the same. Not sure about their turbo’s.
