S14 vs. A4

Now, my little bitch ass rich friend got a 1996 Audi A4 2.8 quattro last week, he keeps saying it's all that, but it's an automatic cause he's a pussy, he keeps saying my dream car (S14) isn't crap and wouldn't stand a chance, is it true? When I get my license (2-3 weeks) I'll test him with my 94 Altima which is a manual and same engine, tranny as S14, so do I have a prayer? Or will I get creamed? (All cars mentionned above are bone stock with no passengers and crappy drivers)

BTW, I know that the Altima is FWD and that the 240SX is RWD so there would be a difference between the 2, but please say what you think anyways. ;)

See , if it was a stick, and his a bad driver, that might be to your advantage. AWD boogs when launched under the power band. But in auto, all he needs to do his hold the break, floor the gas, let go of the break. VROOOOM there he gose where ur still burning rubber!

Altimas is not fast, but 2.8 AWD Audi, is faster…………………….

lol, logik i have 1 rich friend, guess what car he has.... you guessed it a honda, 2004 honda ex, first thing he talked to me about is how he was gonna put a bodykit on it, i was like, then a big spoiler right, then he said, "howd you know", i laughed for a long time. ehhh 240's from the factory are crap slow. sorry but alot and i mean alot of cars can put a hurt on a stock KA. so you might get him off the line because those A4's are soo weak, they'll bogg off the line and fall on its face, then you gotta hold the lead off until the end.

and for those guys who are goin to say well AWD owns off the line. yes that is true if you ahve enough rev's and power to actually move the weight of the whole car at once without bogging down the engine. on a automatic i doubt you can rev it that high, and also it doens't make much power either so it doesn't have enough power to pull itself off the line.

He wouldn't know how to rev the car, he'd wait until the ligh turned and would just floor it. the 2.8 isn't all that powerful though, it's the same engine as a VR6 jetta which is like 200hp, factor in drivetrain loss, alot in an AWD car, and the weight of the car......and I 'm still screwed...lol...I guess I'll just have to bolt a couple of things on, maybe if I get things like IHE, pulleys, flywheel, better clutch, I gotta change it soon anyways, it slips like crazy, good tires, I might have a chance, maybe?

with full bolt on's you can hang with a v-tec honda. but not on the highend. they will still take you.

oh, and the a4 would win.. the vr6 is a decent engine.. but if you get a 240 with some bolt-ons, it'd be close.. the 240 is less than 3000lbs and his is about 3300..

the weight i believe would be comparable, but the power difference and the fact thats the audi is AWD, wouldn;t be compensated by a manual tranny

My Dad's 1.8 A4 has 170 HP, so I would think the 2.8 has more. Although I don't know the year of the Audi off the top of my head...

UMMMMmm a stock 240 will get killed by a A4, sorry, stock for stock, audi rules.

I honestly think you would have a fighting chance in the Altima. All these guys underestimate how much power loss there is in AWD. If he is making 175hp crank, he is only making about 120-130whp. My friend dynos AWD cars all the time and the power loss is huge on those. If he has an automatic (which he does) there might een be more loss, plus crappy gearing (less gears), and his car weighs a lot more. The Altia is FWD and has very little power loss to the wheels, manual, lighter, I personally think you could take him. Race him and let us all know how the race goes.

Damn, yeah you will get worked in snow. I guess it will have to wait. Until then save up and get a 240. Then you shouldn't have as much trouble beating him.

Well I've been working alot for 3 months now, got 529$ in the car fund, i can work for another month alot, but then I start school and won'T be able to work as much, by next summer I might have about 900$. :crying:

yeah man, snow's here and feels like its here to stay.. we've got no visible grass here and its only going to snow more tomorrow and the day after..

I love Montreal,and I'd live here forever, but damn I hate the snow and it's here like 5-6 months a fucking year!!! I like having snow for christmas, but that's it, like from mid-december to mid-january then it should go away! I think I might go to Toronto, less snow.

There's no place like SoCal. I live in Orange County, and everything from snow, to beach, to dessert is within an hours drive. Not to mention there is a higher percentage of hotties here.

240sx's are very slow, but if you treat them right, and learn to drive well and use the car to it's full potential, you will have so much more fun than anyone in their overpriced rich boy toy audi.

Ummmm I think the Audi comes with way more power than 175hp.

Actually the Altima is fairly quick, but as I stated before, we can't race until the snow is gone which is like March. The Audi has 172hp.

If you do end up racing do it from a 40 roll. by then the AWD will have no effect except to slow him down. Also most automatics dont handle kick down to well so you should be able to put some distance on him right on the launch (Unless he's boost braking). Overall 175HP on a 3000Lb AWD car and 155 on a lighter FWD will give the FWD a considerable advantage from a 40 Roll.

He won't do any kind of boost braking or whatever, he'll just smash the gas when the light turns green and wonder why the steering wheel pulls to one side lol, he doesn't know how to drive for shit, I doubt he'll actually even go through with the race cause he'll be scared of going to fast or something. lol
