Carb Problems

Hi all,
I just replaced my 2.0L engine (carburetor) with a used one of the same size. The replacement engine, however, was fuel injected so removed it and put my carb and intake on it. Since the replacement engine didn't have place to mount the mechanical fuel pump from my carb engine I bought a universal electric pump (4-7 PSI) and installed it. I can get the engine to start when it's cold but then it dies shortly after. I then start it again where it runs a little longer until it dies again. I go through this little exercise until it finally warms up and idles, but the moment I take it out on the street it dies again. It's not getting enough gas but I'm not sure if its poor pump pressure or something else. Any suggestions?
