yea, the cigg lighter would work then just cut the power line and run a wire to the switch, then from the switch back to the power wire. Im not sure if the ciig lighter work when the car is off tho. if it doesnt, then youll have to run a wire from the + terminal on the battery and ground the neons to the chasis. Depends if you want the neons to work when the car is off too.

when the car is off the cigarette lighter isn't working, it's switched. If you want to run your neons with the car off you have to wire it to the battery and a switch.

** on most cars. some actually have a constant power wired to the cigarette lighter. this is mostly on older cars, though.
If you run a wire directly to the battery, make sure you have an inline fuseholder on the hot line, up near the battery. Also be sure to run heavy enough wire that it won't overheat and/or melt.

wire them in paralelle to the constant 12V wire at your ignition harness, its by far the easiest to get to and wont clutter up your engine bay. If you dont have or dont want to use your multimeter, my shop has a directtechs membership and i can get you the wire colors for your ignition harness.

I'd wire it directly off the battery, but go off the fusebox, and install an inline fuse, and wire a switch with a $10 12v power relay for your neons.. power relays make the wiring safe... and you can use any voltage switch you want..

Yea I wired some neons in my car and my friends i recomend running a brand new switch from the fuse box it works great and is very clean.. The Cig lighter sucks for all time lighting of the neons its kind of a way to rig them up for more permenent go with a brand new switch and wiring to the fuse box it works great!
