What do you think the best 2 12" subs are(reasonably priced), 3 10"?

the best subs reasonably priced I would have to go with eD subs. They revamped their line up not too long ago and I haven't been following, but they have some killer subs. Other than eD, I like the Alpine Type Rs as far as mainstream brands go.

coustic isn't bad, you can do better for the price though. And stay away from Sony. Crutchfield is a great reference, but don't buy from then they are overpriced. Check out www.ikesound.com www.thezeb.com and www.onlinecarstereo.com <- they are a bit expensive but have a better selection.

If you are looking for good subs at cheap price i'm trying to get rid of 3 10 inch xtant dual voice coil 1000watt peak 500watt rms only used about a year. I thought they sounded great and have a great look both front and back. I'd like to see what other people think about xtant. Not to many people have heard of them.

I've heard one system that used Xtant subs and audiobahn amp to power them. Nothing special IMO, along the same lines as Pioneer and Kenwood. Nothing too special, but not a pile of shit.

Audiobahn are a decent budget sub. You should save your money and go with Alpine R or JL subs. You will be more satisfied with good subs

Audiobahn and Volfenhag are both shit. I've had a complete audiobahn setup and I didn't like it at all. Had some guy trying to sell me his Volfenhag subs so I took a listen and they sucked horribly too.

I have never even heard of Valfenhag. Probably for the best, just from the name I wouldn't want to waste my time.

JL's are really nice... but dont know your price range.. but by the looks of it you said you were looking on sales at crutchfield.. so im guessing you arent on a big budget... stay away from anything they sell at wallmart(lightning)... they blow out quick

Take a look at Diamond Audio, the TDX will blow your mind, they're a little pricy but they're worth the price IMO, make sure you get a good amp to go along with those subs.

I went Resonant Engineering. They are the best subs i've ever heard, they're not expensive and'll blow alooot of subs away. www.reaudio.com

Kicker will get ya to where ya want to be... dont have a lot of money? Go for the comp vr, if ya save for a little while longer, the solobarics will kick ya out of the car, I currently have 2 12 inch solobaric L7's, and due the ohmage only have 100 watts running to each one, they can handle 1200 watts each, and with only 200 watts going to the 2 12's, it still makes the windshield wiper on the back of my hatch bounce a 1/4 inch ;) Just make sure you put them in the right enclosure... the best sub in the world sounds like doo doo butter in the wrong cabinet ;)

NEWBS stop posting in old threads its really fucking annoying. And to answer the question MTX over priced for the output, KIcker over priced for what they are and Resonaant Engineering would make a solobaric cry. Not to be a dick but old threads need to die. ANd to put it out there, there is no best sub.

Car audio is 70% personal preference the rest is brand and install.

LOL this is true, RE WOULD make a solobaric cry, but RE is also about twice the price of a solobaric, and dude said he was on a budget. And I agree with you, there is no best sub, all based on what you like, what your budget is, and how good the install is..... RIP this thread... lol

It's all about the alignment baby. You can take a shitty subwoofer and put it in a custom box and it would sound good for a while, but it probably wouldn't last long. More expensive subs usually have better quality as well as easier parameters to work with to make a flat response curve. Even though this is a dead thread, I'll post my recommendations... although expensive and at times rare, RE subwoofers are very good. On a budget I would recommend either a Pioneer Premier (I think that's the model name), Kicker Solo (I have one, sounds great in the box I made), or Type R.

Kickers Solobaric L7 Good Stuff

Solobarics are great for bass and spl output but as far as quality goes, they have about the sound quality of sony's best stuff which isnt that good. For retail of the solobaric there are better things that put out more bass.

96civicEX06 putting a complete crap sub in a custom well designed box isnt going to net the Sq of a higher quality sub. It will sound better than being crammed in a prefab but it wont be a major differencne.

STOP BRINGING THIS THREAD BACK.

Well before this thread actually closes its doors, define what you think Sq is, and I can prove or disprove you. Personally, Sq is not only having a flat response curve, but being able to blend well with the music surrounding the listener. The former point can be accomplished by alignment, a Qtc of .707 in a sealed box, and having a typically flat response curve in a ported or bandpass box. Free air is usually not a Sq enclosure therefore I will exclude this type of enclosure. The latter point can be accomplished more by tweaking, fine tuning, and personal preference. As someone stated already, car audio is 70% preference.

I will agree with you on most of. however SQ on a personal level is not something measurable. Its not like spl in DB. SQ is dependent mainly on the person and how they hear sounds. While a sony from walmart in a prefab will sound good to some one, another will hear it in a completely different way. When i talk about Sq im talking the bass sounds like it should not over powering to the speakers, no distotion or resonant sounds, IE body rattle, let alone the speaker sounding like its slapping something everytime its hits. Bandpass are great as long as there designed and built to an exact measurement. Free air is the biggest waste of time, it can damage the subs, you get almost no bass out of the design, and it sounds horrible.

Another thing i like thats happening now is that the subs from ascendant audio are comparable with RE's stuff. ascendant is so much easier on the wallet than RE has been.
