I'm quite sure that the custom wheels they are referring to are the "bling" wheels that have been installed on the car for SEMA.

Gustav - very unique shots! Thanks for sharing with us. :)

If you can acquire any more photos I would love to see them. Seeing the car in pieces undergoing a refit like that is a rare treat. Tell your source "thanks!"

Side note: I wonder if that dark red car that can be seen in three of the photos is Rowan Atkinson's car. It's a shame they remove the license plates at the factory.

Dark red car??? I only see a dark purple.......well, let's just say a "dark colored" car. Am I missing something that shows it as being red? It might be purple, but I don't know. You've probably noticed this but there is also another dark one in one of the photos.

it does look like that one...since its the only one in that color, it has to be. well spotted.

now can i stray off-topic just a little bit and ask if anyone knows whats the black thing n top of the hummer? i am guessing its a camera mount?

the other one visible (without the wheels) is xp5.

front and rear radar detector

a radar detector, is something to help to park the car, isn't it ?

I found this information strange :

because I don't see the "typical round" of this system, neither on the front neither on the back of the car on any picture of it.

you can see one on the back of the GT, but never seen one on another car ?!

Radar detectors are different than parking distance sensors. Here we use radar detectors to pick up police radar they use for measuring how fast someone is driving. If you pick the radar signal up before it is recording your car, then it gives you a chance to slow down so you don't get a ticket. Or in the case of a McLaren F1, speeding would probably get you arrested.

ha ok, my mistake.

is it legal ?

Peloton25

No worries - probably just different terms on different sides of the world.

Radar detectors are legal in most states in the USA. Last I heard only 2 of the 50 states in the USA (Ohio and Virginia as I recall) had laws against them. Otherwise, you're free to detect as much radar as you want. I do believe that jamming devices are illegal in all parts of the USA, but I doubt those work all that well anyway.

There are no "Candy Orange" ones. The paint color on Dan's car - the one in those photos - is called "Kandy Orange". The last road car #075 which was painted a similar color is called "Yquem". The #073 Christies Auction car with the downforce kit and LM-spec engine was painted "Kandy Orange Metallic".

If I still haven't answered your question, please post a photo of whatever car you are referring to.

Here's a better picture of the color of the car in the background - I'm surprised none of you noticed a photo from this particular shoot that is not posted on that page, I noticed the 3rd picture down is pretty popular and theres always another one from a different angle around when I see that 3rd picture: Link (http://www.rapidcars.com/orangef1mclaren.jpg) As you can see, the car appears to be dark green
