PS2 errors, works only when it wants too.

my foster brother has ps2 that he has had for a couple of years now, he puts in a disk and it sets there trying to read the disk and then he gets a disk read error, is there a remedy for that. he cleaned the dust out of it and it started working but after he played it about an hour he turns it off then tries it again and it gived the disk read error again. HELP!

well i found out today what causes it, scratched disks will over work the eye, this kid would let one sit and skip for 30 minutes or more so that done his in, it will read new disks just fine. but if he gets one with a finger print of just little fine scatches it wont play.
