Speedometer Troubles

I've been struggling with my speedometer for a year now.
It bounces erratically when the car gets above 50mph or so.
I put in a new speed sensor (at the transaxle), a new speedometer cable, and tried a couple speedometer heads from the junk yard.
I'm convinced its the speedometer head. I've torn it apart, and greased the pin. That made things worse. I'm not sure if that is because of the grease, or because I messed something else up while tearing into it.
Please give me your advice anybody has fixed a speedometer.
I would buy a new one, but it does not appear they are available.
I'm not sure if parts to a speedometer are available or not.

speedometer cable does not use 'grease' for lubrication, try graphite , two types work, 'dry' type and the lock ease in a spray can. this has some type of light liquid . you can buy at most wal marts
