problems with new fan clutch

I had a bad fan clutch on my 96' tacoma 4 banger. I went to NAPA auto parts, got a new clutch, and replaced the old one. While I was at it, I replaced the water pump since the old one has 155,000 on it. So everything went together nice. The instruction manual mentioned that the new clutch would "flywheel" out of the box until it broke in. Thats fine. So I drove 20 miles to work. Hardly any stop and go- just all 70MPH. The whole way there you could hear the fan going like mad. I dont think the clutch ever did anything, so obviously it has broken in at all. Question is how long should I expect it to take to break in? Should I do some stop and go traffic driving?

I just recently replaced my fan clutch about 5 months ago on my 96 tacoma. I changed mine because my roaring the whole time i drove it. After i replaced it, mine would roar like mad also, but it would only do it for like 5 min. The clutch has to warm up and then it can slip more easily. Does yours roar the whole time? What was your truck doing before you replaced it? (When i first replaced mine, it would roar the whole time. It took about a week before it broke in)
