Locking Differential Interchange

Can someone tell me what differential will interchange with Trailblazers? Looking for a locking differential to put in my vehicle. I figure GM did not make a special axle/differential for the Trailblazer. Probably interchanges with half the trucks they sell.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Sorry don't have an answer, but I am curious about your question. My 2k4 TB has the locking differential option. Are you looking for a cheaper or a better alternative to a new part?

Have you priced a “new” differential for a 05 Trailblazer? The bare chunk is over $500. So yes, I want to save money.
I have much experience with GM interchangeability. The Trailblazer rear end is probably unique to that platform but the “guts” are most likely common with other GM products. The ring & pinion and differential were probably “borrowed” from the S-10 truck or full size truck platform. Since I can install differentials (and have to “proper” tools to do so); why not got a chunk that is used, will work, and is around $300 complete?

The Trailblazer/Envoy's use an 8" ring and pinion. I was mistaken when I assumed they must share ring & pinion/differential with another GM model. So far the only ring & pinions available are 3.42, 3.73, & 4.10. This 8" ring & pinion was introduced with the 2002 model year. So new that I have not found any used assemblies... yet.
For those interested, visit this site for ring & pinion/differential listings:

Anyone one know the RPO code for the locking differential? I just bought a 2002 trailblazer and would like to know if mine has it. Thanks!!!

Mine came with it... I have the LS 1SC package. It came on that one. Other than that, don't know what to tell you.

All locking differential RPO's for GM cars is G80
The other "G" code indicates the gear ratio....

Wanted to know what you guys know about the "Differential Locking Assemblies" that are available for "upgrading" and if anybody has ever installed one. I have an'04 TB LT without the locking option. Has anybody installed one or know anything about them.
