I've got a 69 Firebird that i have just replaced the distributor cap plugs and wires and put dual straight pipes on it ..... but ignore all that it has major power loss... it idles fine and sounds good but will not go anywhere .... it will move slowly but its like it has a chain attached to a huge rock or somethin ... and when i push it to the floor all it does is try its hardest to move but doesnt move much
what can fix this?

Does it rev up but just barely move? Check the tranny fluid level. If the level is fine, see what color it is...it might be something in the tranny slipping.

You dont give enough info. Does it rev up in neutral? Did it run good before you did the work?

one more thing that i just read... you asked if it reved up in neutral???
well the way i understand it is that you think it revs up by itself ??? well it doesnt when i said revving up i just ment that i had pushed it to the floor it revs up then but not on its own

Well, based on what your saying here so far, it sounds like something he tranny. Id take it to the shop and have them check out the tranny and tell you if they think it needs a rebuild. The way I understand it, the fluid appears to be good yet it sounds like its slipping. If I had to guess based on this I would say the plates or something inside the tranny are bad.
