t bird drop springs

i have been contemplating on putting drop springs on my t-bird for some time but am not sure whether i should put a 1.5" drop or 2" drop i want the car to look good but not be slammed on the ground what do you think would look better

I think you should put some 22's on it and lift it an inch.

I just got 2" Intrax Lowering springs from summit racing for $219, compared to the Eibach avg. $260. I've heard that a 2" lowering job can cause you not to be able to align your car right, but I dont know if thats totally true or not. I also reccomend getting a rpogressive spring rate. If you search Ebay, you can probably find generic brands for about $150. (Just remember, you get what you pay for..) I was also reccomended that I get new sway bar ends, but upon further research, they arent neccessary unless you drop you car 4+".

Do your home work before a major job like this.

If you plan to lower it 2" 245 wide tires slightly rub when the wheel is lock to lock, so thats about max width with 2". 275 is about as wide as you can go on stock height, with slight rubbing at max. cornering.

i wouldnt do that, I was kind of exxagerating. But I wouldnt lower my t bird. They look great on 20's. never seen one on 22's. I really wouldnt mind putting mine on 20's so it would be taller. I'm 6'8 so I already flop down into my seat at stock height. in my opinon though, a lowered t bird on 17s with low pro tires looks stupid. even if the rims are bad ass. the wheel wells are too big for that, and it just doesnt look right. Even though I was joking about the 22's idea, id prefer that over tucking 17s.

There was a GP quite some time ago on tccoa.com for .75" drop springs. They were custom made for the MN12's. I have a set put haven't put them on yet. Most people on that board that bought them love them for looks/ride height and performance. Reported to out-perform just about any other brand. Might be a set or two available out there if you are interested in that.

my bird is dropped 2 in. It looks awesome but it hits on everything, curbs, ditches, and high centers sometimes on steep inclined peaks. If you are concious of these things when you drive it wont happen all that often. I would deffinatley suggest the bigger sway bar and progressive spring rate though.i can still put 20's on mine with the 2in drop.

if you get the right size tire, it fills the wheel well nicely.. a 35 series tire on a 17 is gonna look stupid, yes, but a 50 or 55 fills in nicely.

I personally like 17's the most for T-birds, but thats my opinion.

yea, those look really good. I guess Ive just seen too many people with 17s and small tires like 35s, and then dropped it, and it looks like its on skateboard wheels... I hate that. I found the most beautiful rims for my car. they are 19 inch "TSW Thruxtens". dude at the store set em up next to my wheel, and i looked from about 15 yards, and OMG, they were ballin. its a hyperblack 5 star with about a 3 inch chrome deep dish... it was so gorgeous..... but of course it doesnt match my bolt pattern... enough to make me cry.
