99 4.3 timing question

i am puting a dubble roller timing chain on my 4.3. the timing gears are marked every 4 degrees,so i am going to advance it 4. i know it will inprove my low end toruqe but how much? and how much will it affect my horsepower??

Although you can degree a cam shaft it's best left to the professional engine builders.

They have a special degree wheel, 1 mistake and it'll rob power, plus it messes up the computer.

4 degrees is alot of timing advance. are you getting this number from a proven document? if not, i would not attempt to do that. you could have no power and/or worst case scenario, you could hit valves.

i am useing a cloyes dubble roller street kit. the timing gears are marked so you can + or - 4 degrees. and it does come with all the info on how to do so correctly just nothing on the amount of hp/ torque gain/loss

advancing the timing will gain torque and retarding the timing will gain hp, but you will not gain both or lose both. if you advance the timing you will gain torque but lose hp and if you retard the timing you will gain hp but lose torque. as for how much you gain on each, i dont know but i would guess 20ft/pds or 20 hp depending on which you decide to go with.
