h22 tranny

Im looking to swap a jdm h22 into my 92 accord. One problem i have is i dont have an h22 tranny and i dont want to use the old accord tranny for a few reasons (one of them being that I drove it). Anyway, im looking into possibly a usdm transmission because ive heard that they are geared better for an all motor application. does anyone know if this is true or where i could find this out? Im also wondering if the usdm models had any kind of speed governors on them? any info would be great. thanks.

true the h22 is geared better but i dont think it will make a big diff using it with an accord. and there is no govenors on trannys it would be in your ecu

a guy on HT sells adapter plates to use B-series transmission with h22. ive heard with that combination(h22/b-series tranny) it weighs the same as a complete b18c swap.

thanks h22meangreen for that info. I didnt know it was in the ecu, so shouldnt have a problem since im using jdm.
In response to that b-series tranny comment, i dont understand....first i dont think my axles will work with a b tranny and second i cant imagine why id want that anyway? but if you know something i dont let me know!

well if you could figure out how to get a B series to the H22 one upside would be the wide selection of transmissions available.
but it would make sense to me that a tranny that was factory mated to a 200HP 2.2 would be stronger than that which was mated to a no-torque1.6 or 1.8

the b-series transmission is lighter then the h22 and has better gearing. youre right, you would need new axles to fit the transmission.

not to metion the B series tranny has the torque rod/shift rod combo to shift, and the accord/prelude use the cable method so you will have to rig a B series linkage under the accord as well.

okay what if i just stuck with my f22 tranny. it seems to be in alright shape, but i some people have told me that its a waste to use it because of the gearing. Anyone know if it will make a difference?

okay i got the gear ratios for f22/h22 transmissions:

your gearbox is probally one of the slowest(but has high top speed). a shorter gear(numerically high) multiply more torque, thus giving you better acceleration but sacrificing top speed.

yeah i understand that part, but i was wondering if anyone had experience in comparing the two? I really want this for a daily driver but not really sacrafice a lot of acceleration.

if its just for daily driving stick with your tranny, will still be quick, and if you get disapointed with it down trhe road save up for the H tranny and swap it in later.

Actually the jdm engine does have a speed limiter, at least mine does. It's at around 115, give or take. It does not, however, have a rev limiter.

that kinda sucks. i know my accord has a rev limiter but i never ran into a speed governor.

From what I've gathered, and I could be wrong, the USDM engine has a rev limited and no speed limiter, and the JDM engine is the opposite, no rev limiter but with a speed limiter.

a chip would fix that right?
