Overheated 98NB, heater core

Make sure, if you have an overheating NB, to get the problem fixed ASAP. If the problem causes the heater core to fail, the job to replace the core is quite extensive, or expensive, whichever way you choose to fix it. The junk plastic impeller in my water pump failed and after chasing other possible overheating causes, the junk plastic heater core tube busted. The water pump job wasn't too bad, but the job to replace the heater core was a stone cold B!t$#. The whole dash including a major structural beam have to be removed and put back piece by painful junk plastic piece. Took me 14 hours, not counting the water pump which was another 3. I'm no pro, but I am pretty good and I was busting A$$. So at $85 per hour, you do the math. Plus parts, $75 for the pump and $85 for the core, 2 gals. of VW coolant plus stealership markup!!! That can hurt.
