Vodka more conentrated than Beer?..

Is Vodka more concentrated than Beer? If you do more Vodka it can kill you faster than just drinking too much beer..is this true?

wow...just wow. you must not be very good at drinking if you don't know which is more potent. I don't even drink, and it's quite obvious to me that vodka will get you drunk way way faster than beer.

LOL exactly... so obviously vodka is more concentrated. Look at the size of 1 shot and the size of 1 beer. Theres a big difference.... how old are you?

Let's put it this way:
There are 12 oz per average beer, 4 oz per glass of wine, and 1 oz per shot of liquor.

If you drank 12 oz of beer, you would have had one "drink". If you drank 12 oz of wine, you would have had 3 "drinks". If you drank 12 oz of liquor *such as vodka* you would have one hell of a lot of alcohol in your bloodstream from a total of 12 "drinks".


So tell me, dear friend... which is more concentrated: Beer or liquor?

Most Vodka generally starts out at 40% alcohol, that's 80 proof. Beer is generally 5-6% alcohol by volume.... You do the math.

Peronally...I prefer vodka to beer...anything to beer actually. Have a drink, try it out...have 3 shots, then 3 beers....you do the math.

All alcohol tastes like shit. My philosiphy is that if I'm here to get drunk I might as well stay sober to meet the ladies for a bit and then do it as quickly as possible. That way I'm well aware of when I begin to be an obnoxious snob, as opposed to beer, where the transformation is more gradual. :p

Same here. Beer doesnt' taste that good to me, doesn't get me drunk because I drink too slow I guess and it gets warm faster for me because of that. And it takes a few shots before I even get a buzz anyway.

I think this dude is just fucking around and knows the difference between vodka and beeer though.

I remember one time hanging out with some friends, there was this dude there that was just weird. Not even sure why he was there. So he was drinking like wine coolers I think and I can't remember what we all were drinking. But he wouldn't drink any, said its too strong for him, make him sick, etc. We finally got him to mix himself a drink, he hardly covered the bottom of his glass with alcohol and the rest was whatever we were mixing with and he puked from it. He took a couple drinks, started gagging and someone was in the bathroom so we had to give him the ice bucket (we were in a hotel) for him to puke into. That dude was soemthing else, was stuck with him for a weekend and I think we all almost beat the shit out of him at one point or another.

I stole a bottle of vodka once, and we were driving around town doing whatever we wanted and I kept taking swigs out of the bottle, I think I had like a dozen swigs, and as soon as I got out of the car, I was like, omg... im drunk. And I had to hold on to things to get into my house... it was great. Of course I had a nice puke the next morning. I never throw up on the same day.

The ethyl alcohol is more concentrated in Vodka than in beer, and ethyl is the alcohol that you want to drink, it's the alcohol that gets you drunk. Vodka is the result of a fractional distillation process that purifies an alcoholic "beer" into 95.6% ethyl alcohol, with the remaining amount being water. This 95.6% is then diluted with water to 40% by volume. So yes, the ethyl is more concentrated, however Vodka has a far lower concentration of methanol and fusel oils (quantities would be measured in the parts per billion or lower). Methanol is very poisonous and is the lead cause of hangovers (most of the other contaminants aren't good for you either). All other undistilled spirits have a far higher concentration of these contaminants. So while Vodka has a higher concentration of ethyl, it is actually safer when drunk in moderation since it has had these poisons removed.

It's the high concentrated liquor that is found at the bottom of a wine barrel, or at least it's what my dad told me. Man, that stuff is strong! Often, but I don't usually try to drink it straight, more often I mix it with something. Drinking it straight is possible, and feels pretty interesting, but is pretty unpleasant.

But living in a real Mexican household we always drank Tequila chased down with Beer. Thats the only way I have ever drank beer is when I chase Tequila with it.
