Ok, I'm now 17, been working like near 35 hours a week for 3 and a half months, and money-wise, I don't have shit, I could work for another year and not have enough for a beater, how do you people do it?? (I don't spend on much, but there just doesn't seem to be any money!)

Believe it or not it has 132000 miles on it and i bought the thing for 3000... I have a like 22 hour a week job for 6.20... only been working there for like a month now but had a full time(45 hours) 6/hr for like 3 1/2 months...I dont see how you cant afford one? there are alot around here for like 1800-2200 mine just happened to be perfect and 3000

Maybe I should put more in my savings account, I put 20% in my car fund and 20% in my investement account every paycheck. I make 7.55 an hour CDN (minimum wage up here). My dad suggested that whatever money I have left in my spending account each time I get a check, I should put it in savings, I think I'll do that cause I have like 100$ every 2 weeks in there that I end up spending on crap. Each check is like 450$ after taxes and shit, I put 90 to a 100 $ in each account so I have about 250 left spending money for 2 weeks, I guess I could do with 150$ for 2 weeks.....

Sorry for second post, but I don't feel likecopy pasting this into an edit, the thing is, after I buy the car, shit won't end there, I'll have to pay for insurance, gas, repairs, even if I wanna do as much as I can myself, tools are fucking expensive.

I built my KA-T on $6 an hour. But I did work a couple 50+hour weeks. I didn't have to pay for insurance though. My parents said they would pay for insurance as long as I didn't get into any wrecks or get any tickets and kept a 3.5GPA or better. Works for me!
EDIT: Trust me, tools and a little knowledge will pay for themselves. I have saved about $5-600 just by fixing my car myself. New MAFS, cleaning AIV, installing clutch, doing my own tune-ups, installing all my upgrades myself, and so on. Can you imagine how much it would be to have someone install my turbo kit?

i know, i couldnt even imagine how much money we have saved on all our cars from my dad and i fixing stuff instead of paying to have it done...Just learn it, do it yourself. and use the money you would use to pay someone to buy the tools. And you get the experience and tools out of it for the same price of cheaper of what it would cost to pay someone else.

logik, what i'd do if i were you is save up for a full year of insurance before you start driving.. the worst thing is getting fucked by your insurance company and not being able to drive.. and don't be worrying about tools yet.. they're useless without a car thats in good enough shape to work on.. get the car and pay for insurance FIRST.. i'm telling you, you won't regret it.. i know this from first hand experience if you know what i mean

Yeah, well if I bought a 240 anytime soon my dad would pretend to be pissed, take the keys away and drive it for a year behind my back until he says I'm ready for it. So good idea, I'll try doing that, and I'll put more money aside.

Man it was a damn piece of cover right in front of the wheel under the bumper...when i looked the first time when it was only like from 62-72 MPH it wasnt even close to dragging so when it became constant...I didnt even look already assuming the worst :D...thanks even if you read the thread....
