CV shaft removal problem

96 Toyota Camry
4 cylinder
Automatic transmission

I'm trying to remove the passenger side CV shaft from the transaxle, but I'm not able to pull it out by hand. I've double checked to make sure that I've removed all the necessary bolts, nuts, ect. Also, when I turn the inner arm, I hear a clicking noise coming from inside the transmission.

Anyone have any advise on how to get this thing out, and what else may be the problem?

Thanks!

Can you be more specific about what bolt/nut you removed? For outter and inner side.

Did you remove the snap ring in the bearing support? That's probably the only thing that holds the axle in place.

Let us know how you fixed it!

And now that Allen has replied to my post, you can read in that thread about how the bearing was stuck and how he removed it. That's probably what you've encountered.

I read the link and am comforted to see I was not the only one to encounter this problem.
When I tried this years ago there was no way I could get the bearing to budge. I wisely gave up after a shorter time than some people. The dealer was only about $100. Well spent. They had a real bear of a time getting it out.
Consider letting someone else take on this frustration if you can afford to.

I just finish replacing both CV Shaft on my 97 camry. I did encounter problem removing the passenager side shaft even after removing the snap ring. I end up using a long matel stick and a hamer to tap it out...

After the shaft was removed, a close inspection of the bearing indicated the bear surface was covered with rust...
