I know your first thought is my name and yes i am a new kid to skylines but i have wanted to get into them for a while now... so heres what i was really going to say! and i want to get into drifting.
Buying a 20,000 already U.S. legalized '93' R32 GT-S or having a 10,000 '96' r33 GT-S ship from japan then legalized. It's only 10,000 cause i know some people. Which do you think would be cheaper?
Which do you think is the better deal?

Well, you'll be spending 10g's on the car from Japan, then you'll have to ship it over to US and pay taxes and what not. After the car makes it to the states you'll be paying Motorex at least $16,000.00 to make the car street legal (can't remember but Motorex is having problems legalizing post 96 models. Someone on here will know for sure). Now if you just plan on using the car as a race/show then I suppose plan B is the way to go. But if you want your Skyline to be street legal then buy the GTS for 20gs.

Ha ha ha ha..........the people you know suck. 10 grand for a 1996 GTS????? ha ha ha ha..............ha ha ha  I know for a fact that you could get that car for like $4000.00-5,000.00 maybe less here in Japan. Drift Kid????? 15??? (years old??) Sounds like your just another dreamer......... Do you even know the difference between the GTS, GTS-T, and the GTR????? :eek7: But like Zaphod Beeblebrox said.....you will have to pay to ship it and then pay bonds and tariffs and then pay motorex about 16,000.00 to convert it................. :grinno: I know, I have a Skyline(see picture at right)
and I have done extensive research on this..................well good luck :smokin: I'd say for car and conversion and everything.....you should have at least $30,000.00 tucked away.........and that's only for a GTS...........a GTS-T 1996 would run you around maybe $8,000.00 or $9,000.00.........and a GTR.........could be like $15,000-20,000........you know I'm being approximate...... :iceslolan

lol yeah Skyline69 does have a point. Nissan Skylines are a dime a dozen in Japan. Kinda like the Toyota Camry is in the US. You can def buy one for less than 10gs. In any case, dreamer or not, if you have the money buy the already street legal GT-S. You can always mod it. Just be sure that the GT-S is legit. There are a lot of scams out there when it comes to US street legal Skylines.

sold my R33 for 1000 bucks. :-) Kid, if you want to get a drift car and you are in the states, don't get a fucking skyline. yeah a skyline is a "skyline"... oohhhh ahhhh a skyline... wow, but who really gives a fuck. Pick a different car man. Shit, for 20 grand. Just spend 4 or five G's and leave the rest for the parts you're going to need.
If youre in the states and you are looking for a drift car, a skyline is NOT the car you want. Hell a skyline isn't even the car most people want for drifting here in Japan....

i think you mean a hachiroku or "8-6". I don't know much about them but I think it's the same car/same name as a toyota levin, and YES they are VERY popular because they are light and cheap. just enough power to drift and very well balanced. again. I'm very uneducated. some google searching for AE86, Hachiroku and levin should help you out

Lol, this took a strange turn of events.
For a drift car, something Rear-Wheel Drive, obviously. Maybe, a silvia (If you could import it) or 240^^ or Treuno.
As for the skyline, if your into drifting, no this isn't the car for you.
Glad you are actually researching, though, instead of saying "It says skyline, it must be fast".....

Yeah, we need alot more people who bother doing the research. The 8-6, or, I like to call it the hatchi-roku, is a nice car. I saw one in vancouver. Not very popular out here, so it was a treat. PS, I live in Winnipeg, not Vancouver. Just to clarify. :p
But yeah, we'll gladly give support to anyone who isn't a moron. Then again, it also applies to people who are extremely ignorent. So yeah, jsut be a nice person, and we'll give you kindness....

O boy... Please dont get me started with posting sketches, paintings, and graphic manipulated peices :D
Because I wont stop, haha.
I say just go with an RPS13... Like my first drift car.
Fully primered body, lowered to the ground (it would throw some pretty bad chassis scrape though tight turns... Sparks are sweet) stock engine with intake, gutted interior, doughtnut tires all the way around, and lexan windows.
Thing was so much fun... Until I put her into a wall in mid-drift... But for $350 you cant beat it :D
Drift cars are only nice, and pretty looking in D1... The fact of drifting is this:
It is quite rough on your car... So keep it cheap, and easy. You dont need to worry about S15 headlights, or JDM this, JDM that, SR20, CA18 blah blah turbo system with HKS BOV, until you get good, and confident enough that you know you wont drop her into a curb... Or wall for that matter
Thats my advice.

Yes, Most of the cars out here are right hand drive :nutkick: , occasionally you find one that someone converted to left hand drive. Heck, you see American cars out here all the time. I always see, corvettes, mustangs, old cadillacs with hydros, trucks, the Japanese love :thinkerg: American Spec cars almost as much as we love their cars. As for Silvias.......they can't be imported as far as I know :grinno: , I know a few people with silvias. My one friend has a Sileighty. He put an S-15 front end on his 180sx.....It's all types of hooked up :evillol: . Well, my plan if I come back to America soon is to bring back a 240 to Japan(I need to check on the laws first). Then I wanna hook it up with 180sx parts while I'm here :smokin: , you know conversions and and SR20DET. :cwm27: ohh well........we'll see what happens. :iceslolan

the AE86 trueno and the AE86 levin are basically the same car except headlight styles. they are pretty cheap here in the US (a good one can run you anywhere from 3-5 g's). i happen to own one as a matter of fact :D. they are great cars, especially for the beginner drifters. they "flip" alot easier than the 240s, 240s are kinda hard to learn on. the AE86's have a near perfect 50/50 weight ratio too. make sure your corolla is rwd though :D. 85-87 is what you want...150 ponies to the rear wheels stock isnt that bad, considering the GTS' came with a LSD.

you know whats amazing....almost all of my friends with SR20DET's passed emissions with only a new cat. it was in downtown seattle too, so it wasnt one of those places out in the boonies. and for some reason they didnt get a visual on their inspection either. i have a picture of his slip too if you want it. only problem is that here in washington we have a VERY big 240/180/silvia scene. most of the cops in the seattle area know what an sr20 looks like, even if its a black top.

I unno, you drift in Lemans? I know I drift go-karts, so it's plausable. Maybe a 240, but I think the treuno, because of the 50/50 dist. of weight.

i see skylines drifting all the time... and im from the same city as you... thats wierd... you must not get out much.
or you just dont know anything about drifting... nothing wrong with that... but if thats the case dont pretend you do

wow.....first off, look at the dates before you post. second, its not too good to come off as an asshole.
i see skylines drifting, but if you read what he said, he doesnt see MANY people drifting them. you cant drift GT-Rs unless you disable the ATESSA and HICAS. you must not get out much, because you dont know shit about drifting.

i know not all skylines are gt-r's, im one of the few that are trying to get the newbs to understand that.
now, in my origional post i had said that the usual suspects for skyline drifting at the GTS-T type M's and the GTS's, but i edited the post before i posted it because i wanted to come off as an asshole on my reply.
as far as the ressurecting old threads issue, its not a written rule, its just common curtesy on the forum. theres a reason these threads die, because either all the facts have been set straight, or people lost intrest because the post was that retarded....that or the post got way too off topic.
anywho....my3rd, when are you gettin that GT-R youve been talking about :D. cant wait to see more pics.
