well the 04 and 05 are the same, but the 05 has minor interior and exterior changes but performace is the same. i would have to say i like the 04 better but thats me, plus i think you can get an 04 cheeper now ;-) but its all up to personal preferances check them both out and see which one you like better

Performance wise the cars are identical, the '05 has some nice revisions to the interior though which I like over the '04.
On the other hand, as was mentioned, you may be able to get an '04 for a better price.

Didn't they delete the tape player for the '05? That's a nice little stereo setup (as far as stock systems go) in the '04: 6-disc CD, tape, and AM/FM. That tape deck comes in handy more often than I would have ever imagined it would.

alrite cool, i will most likely get the '04 wrx since a new car is a bit too much... could u put on the fog lights on the '02 onto the '04 b/c i always liked that about the older models.

No, you can't put the fog lights from the '02 into an '04, they won't fit even with 'a few mods'.
You can however get a conversion kit to swap in the JDM foglights which are larger than their US counterparts. It will require some modification to the front bumper's internal crash structure, but is otherwise simple.

Yes, JDM foglights, not '02/'03 foglights.

Just bought three weeks back at $400 over invoice, an 05 wrx in white with the 1.9% special subaru financing. The only down side to the 1.9 deal is the max term of 36 month. The 05 drives a bit better than the 04 due to slightly revised dampening. Drove both and the 05 handled better and seems to stand slightly lower than the 04 which sat next to an 05. The 05 has a nicer stock exhaust with single tip and nicer HVAC controls with slight upgrades to the interior fabrics. My two cents get the 05 if you are still open to purchase. Any savings you get now on an 04 will be offset by the higher residual value of the later model when you sell it later in a few years or trade it in for that new STI.
