well i finished this one up thursday night and i just got my pictures back. If you kept up with the progress thread you know this will be my entry in the AFMOTY contest. i'll start at the front and work my way back and tell you what all was done to the kit. The base for the kit is an AMT 1969 mach 1

Exterior: you will notice the custom front bumper and rear valance/roll pan. i didn't want the bumpers cluttering up the front and rear of the car. I also wanted to bring the front down some. The hood was modified with a scratchbuilt cowl and then covered with SMS carbon fiber. the mirrors are from the 99 revell cobra kit. they too were covered with carbon fiber. The front grille is clay modelling mesh. Paint colors are both duplicolor. A base of gunmetal and the red is a cherry red pearl. The wheels are Pegasus T's 19". i painted the centers with the same gunmetal as is on the body. The rear tail lights are clear plastic, painted with transparent red and backed with aluminum foil

Motorvation: The engine in this kit also comes from the revell 99 cobra. It is modified with custom turbo headers, and twin turbos. all plumbing was constructed with solder. The intercooler, seen through the front grille, is sheet styrene, scribed with a x-acto knife, and sprayed with aluminum paint. If you are real attentive you will notice that the radiator actually "hangs" i had to flip the radiator mount so as to have room for the turbos and plumbing. The turbo's are plumbed so that they draw air from the holes in the front bumper.

Drivetrain: aft of the engine you will find the drive shaft from the cobra, as well as teh IRS with custom tubular a-arms.

exhaust: the exhaust is constructed from plumbing solder, with the ends drilled out and painted black

Interior: i used the interior tub and dash from the 69 amt kit. the seats are also taken from teh 99 cobra, as was the steering wheel and the shifter. the interior was painted with color place flat black, the seats were sprayed with flat black and the centers, the same red pearl as the stripes on the body, then coated with dull coat.

now for the pictures

Looks really good. I have been following this project for a while. I like how clean this stang looks. Nice to see the mix of old & new in a classic american icon! Keep up the good work! (now lets see that 67' twin-turbo get some progress)

i started working on the body of the chevelle this weekend. with family over and all it was hard to get anything done. it is also crunch time for my internet class. but expect to see an update on the 67 pretty soon. as for the mix of the old and the new, that was what i was going for on this project.
