Snapped the shifter cable how do i fix it? can someone help me ?

I banged 2 nd gear and it didn't go in so i looked under the hood and there was a wire comming out of the shifter cable caseing. 2 4 reverse don't work. i tryed putting the wire back up but it fell out.
I need some one to give me some help on howt to fix it.
I don't have money to fix it proffesionally and it is my only car. i neeed help badly
any help would be much appreciated

Easiest way to fix it is to replace the cables. I had to replace mine about to months ago. Took me about 1 hour and I wasnt even sure of how to do it till I did it.

how did you find a replacement part ?
I asked the guy at aamco and he said he would have to take one from a junk yard is that right. that bum wanted a 1g to fix it.

$1000,:eek: dude I would do it for you for around $100 tops. I got my shifter cables from a part out on 3si. I payed $30 shipped.

oh those are easy, find them on ebay or a junkyard...it's just clips at the shifter and on the tranny, and two bolts on the interior of the firewall. Out and in, no professionals needed...just make sure you keep the right cables with the right spots on the shifter and tranny.

There are also two bolts that hold down a rubber block type thing. You'll see what I am talking about when you get the other cables. And Tech's last comment, very true haha. I mixed up the cables on the tranny end, only end to mix them up really. I tried shifting it once everything was hooked up and it didnt move too well. Realized what I did and switched the cables around and it shifted like butter. If you run into any problems feel free to ask for help or advice.:)
