volts light is on

six months ago i replaced my alternater for the same problem and problem was solved. it just came on again and i replaced the old battery this time and the light is still on. the car cranks fine but dont want to leave my wife stranded somewhere if there is something i can do to it now. just wandering if anyone else out there has had this same problem.thanks in advance for the response.

I know it sucks, since you just replaced it 6 months ago, but when you replace it, trust me, buy the lifetime warranty unit for extra $$. The same thing happened to me within 8 months, and I was able to replace it for free. (Little does NAPA know I'm running about 1000 watts of stereo off it).
