Car Explosion

Last night I went to the drags. After making a few passes I watched some races. One of the cars was a 1250 HP Supra. It was sick, it ran 2 passes around 9.7 seconds. My buddy raced him on his 2nd pass and got smoked by 4 seconds.

Before the Supra's 3rd pass it exploded while heating up the tires in the water. The cars was completely engulfed in flames that were about 50 feet high. I had never saw anything like this in real life. It was really weird to see I thought the driver was a goner for sure, but luckily he wore a fire suit and walked out of the wreckage. I wish I hadn't forgot my video camera, but it'll show up somewhere as there were many cameras.

You beat me to it... 1250 rwhp and a 9.7 1/4 mile with good traction would mean the car weighs roughly 5750lbs. Either he filled the trunk with lead, the driver is extraordinarily fat, or he doesn't realize that power don't mean shit if you can't put it to the ground. Probably a combination. Or he could also be lying about the dyno numbers. Actually if he threw a thousand pounds of ballast in the trunk he'd probably run faster since he'd most likely have few traction problems.
Props to him on making that much power and the car is still damn fast... but come on, he could be running 7s. Maybe his car doesn't meet the NHRA requirements for going that fast so he lets off.

That thing is beautiful wow (except for the wing). Man that really sucks it got toasted almost everything pry got ruined thats 50 thou down the drain. 1.4 is a really good 60 foot time right?

Rice??? Supraz are awesome cars, even to the american crowd. I give up much respect for em. I'd love to own one! But then again, to each his own.

I was kinda thinking the same thing when I read that. Not all Japan imports are rice. Some will make you check that your car DOES have a v8 in it.
