I just purchased a 97 SE w/ 57,000 mi on it. After parking it and shutting it off i noticed that the air compressor continued to run for about 5 minutes after the car was shut off. is this normal? if not, what could be causing it?

Fairly normal I think - mine ('95 - M-Reg) runs a fair while, but I think it depends on how worn the air-bags on each suspension point are. The more they require pumping up, the more the compressor runs.

Remember also that the 'loading' setting (lowest) on the suspension switch can be operated for 40 seconds (?) before coming to a halt, and after switching the engine off. It could also be defaulting to a lower position than you are using it on, and lowering/raising itself accordingly after you switch off.

The other tell-tale sign is how low on the suspension it sits after being left unused - the lower it is, the more worn the air bags.

So I am told, just a few thoughts..
