to race or not to race?

this guy at work has a 89 stang 5.0 fast back.. its "worked" ( i honeslt thing the guy doesnt know anyhitng about cars, b/c i told him my probe was turbo and he was like your turbo doesnt kick in untill you hit 80mph.. i wanted to laugh.. :screwy: )
supposdly, cams, hi comp heads, re-worked valve ter. gutted intior and no a/c because "its weight reduction" also the gutted out interior.. he seems like a guy that doesnt know shit about cars and some one hook his car up for him.. but then again it is a 5.0 i did see the motor, lots of chrome that all i can account for, i didnt see msd, or even a fpr. so i dont know and i deffinatly didnt see no2 lines.. how quick are 89-92 shaped 5.0 stangs? if i do a hi 14 do you think i can take him>?

stock 5.0's with stock tires and stock gears will run a 15 flat. however some bolt on mustang with gears are mid to low 14 second cars. some even hit high 13's. since you say he has chrome parts, he probrably has a new intake manifold. does he have intake headers and exhuast? you can hear the exhuast, and the intake is pretty obvious. the nicer intakes are routed to the passenger side of the fender well becusae its cold air you only see the pipe not hte cone. and if he had cams, the engine would idle rough. he has all of the above, then he might have what he says, and that is probrably a 12 second car.

yes the car the idle rought, it was a twin carb set up, he did have exhasut and chrome headers, and a aftermarker air cleaner. damm im out of my leauge.. ill pass on this one..

Unless he is a prick race him. There is no shame in losing to a faster car.

when did fox bodys start coming fuel injected? cause if he converted to carburation and he has dual carbs, then that is seriously one sick car.

I agree with Mason. If the guy already is a complete Douche, and thinks he knows everything about cars, or doesn't know shiz, then don't bother racing. He'll rub it in your face if you lose, and then say that you don't know anything about cars if he wins. I wouldn't give him the bragging rights. Just let him continue to look stupid like he already seems to be. Late...
