Blower Motor not coming on

I have a 01 Intrique with 68,000 miles. The blower motor will not come on in any setting or any vent. All fuses OK. Could it be the switch or is it the motor itself.

Appreciate any help.

Do you have the Manual or Automatic Climate Control? I've heard that the ATC can be pretty problematic.

Grab a test light from somebody and check for power and ground at the motor. Is it the automatic or manual system?

It is the manual system. I have the blower motor and the blower motor resistor out of the car. Can I check them when they are out of the vehicle. The resisitor looks fine with no burn marks.

You can try to check for a hot with the key on and blower switch on. FYI, my service manual shows 3 fuses, a 10A, 20A and a 30A. Also it shows a high speed blower relay incorporated in the blower motor resistor assembly, (which may be part of the blower motor itself).

One other idea..... could you take some jumper wires and see if the blower motor will run if you hook it up to a power source directly?

Checked the blower motor and it works just fine. Looked at resistor once again and it i fried at the start of the path on the circuit board. I went to te dealer and picked up a new resistor, new design but should work. one big difference is the electrical connector. The two wires that plug into the harness on the old one is a different than the new one some retrofitting will have to be done. i will find out tomorrow if that cures the problem.

Blower motor resistor was fried. Installed new one from dealer. One problem is that I have had the blower motor relay installed to kick on the blower motor to dry out the duct work because of musty smell. I believe there is a TSB for this problem.

The dealer's resistor was similar but the wiring connector is different no problem I splice in with old wiring. Checked to see if the blower motor would work. No chance. I used my multimeter and I was getting 12 volts out of the resistor but the motor was not coming on. rechecked all fuses all ok.

Decided to take it to the dealer and they found 2 blown fuses in the blower motor relay that kicks the blower motor on to dry out the duct work.

So as an FYI there is 2 fuses in that relay to check as well if this problem happens to you. Also on my car this relay was under the carpet on the passenger front side. Under the rubber membrane and double sided taped to the floor pan. $70 later plus the resistor cost of 30 and three days lying on my back under the glovebox the problem is fixed:)
