I just picked up a '92 RS from my friend at his impound and shes got no audio in her AT ALL.
It was stolen and now has a gaping hole where my stereo and speakers would be. :'(
I cant complain about things like that when you consider i only paid $200 for the RUNNING car :)
But i would like to know what you guys recommend i get as a replacement system when i get some money together.
Thx.

are the dash speakers gone too? I doubt anyone went thru the trouble of removing the dash pad to get them out. either way, replace them too, they're 4x6 up there, and 6x9 in the side panels. I recommend Polk audio for those, as for the head unit you could either look for an oem replacement or go aftermarket, in which case I recommend pioneer or jvc.

i agree w/ the head unit deffinatly stick too pioneer or jvc best features quality and power output if ur not using an amp!!! dash speakers the first decent ones i found that fit were mtx, but im sure theres more and u can do better. for the 6x9 uve got alot of choice infinity makes really good ones, polk is pretty good. but i got sony (not the wallmart ones) they are great for the money and can handle decent power. if ur getting subs what ever u do it might look like a good deal but dont buy the amp and sub combos w/ box and all they usually suck. i would get alpine, mtx, or jvc. now if u want it really loud u can get the alpine type r or x, mtx 8000 or 9000 or some solar baric l5 or l7 but ur gonna need alot of power for them and b4 anyone rags on me there are alot of other good subs i left out those r just my favorites for the price and power, and quality

depends on what you want to spend..you just want somethin to play tunes on? or do you want a really good system..
not a big fan of pioneer or JVC, although for the money, the JVC's are pretty good decks..

for a modest system, Im an alpine man.. Get an Alpine hu and alpine s series 4x6's in the front.. For the back speakers, Dont get 6x9's.. they suck.. take off the sail panels in the back where the 6x9's normally sit.. Pull the speaker bracket out, and use mdf to make a new mount for some 5 1/4's or 6 1/4 (round) Alpine R series.. round speakers are much better.. Ide suggest replacing the 4x6's in the dash with round speakers too, but its a little trickier..

If you are really into sound quality and want something better, Get Focal, Infinity kappa, or MB quart.. get the componant sets with crossovers..

To answer the question about the dash speakers, no, they are still around. But the side 4"x6" are gone and the entire deck is missing.
I will definately look into the suggestions and see what i can get here in the near future with what very little money i have.
My main concern now is getting her running. (im changing out a lot of these engine parts) And although i like having a *good* setup for sound, id rather hear my V8 purr while driving anyways. So i suppose until i get some real cash together, im just looking for something cheap to fill the gaping holes. haha
