auto wipers

02 Envoy SLT, 35K, just out of warranty by date. Auto wipers are jerky, try to stop mid-stroke. Bought the vehicle about 4 months ago, took it in for the memory mirror problem (common it seems) during which time they also replace wiper module per recall. I've read several posts, her and for Trailblazer, some say bad solder joints in the wiper control. Would this still be a possibility with the new module? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you sure that the module was replaced?
The recall only requires replcaement of the module if there are signs of corrosion on the terminals.
Even so, I think that you'll find that the problem is the module and it will need to be replaced.
I think that the dealership will cover it under a parts warranty for you.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I pulled the paperwork and found that 4 things were done, and the reason I took it in was the AC blower motor and the mirrors.
Here's the items on the invoice:
1. Motor shorted out. Replace fan motor. FP number 52498916 MOTOR ASM 8.855
2. Reprogrammed door module (memory mirrors)
3. Recall 04005. Installed wiper module per recall. FP NUMBER 10376669 SEALER KI 16.064
4. Recall 04048. Installed jumper harness per recall V1210. FP NUMBER 15166099 HARNESS 2.480, FP NUMBER 12337820 STRAP.I/P 8.965.
Now I wonder about the module because all they listed for parts was the "Sealer Kit"? Shouldn't the module part number be listed?
I have an appt Monday for the recall on tail lamps; I will ask about the wipers while I'm there.

The "sealer kit" is the recall. It is a small pad that covers a vent on the back side of the module.
The module is only replaced if there is signs of corrosion present.
I'd guess that the module was NOT replaced and that may still be your problem.
Hope this helps.

Dealer replaced wiper module; no charge. Wipers are working fine now. Thanks for the advice.

Ok now Im mad. Just the other day I was reading this post and chuckling to myself "haha, ive already had all MY warranty/recall work done, i cant possibly ever run into any problems these schmucks are having..."
Lone and behold, here in Michigan its been raining all day and I was on the road for a while with my auto wipers set to the most sensitive wipe setting, so they were pretty active... and there it starts!! they start getting "choppy" and jerky mid-wipe. It did it intermittently, and my warranty is up (extended warranty from guardian- doesnt cover stuff like that) which sucks. Do you think if I bring my Envoy in, since the wiper module was replaced under recall in 9-04 (3 months ago) that they will replace it N/C like the other person here that was having a problem? If not, where is the wiper module located, or is that a fancy name for the wiper motor? or is it wiper module/motor combined?

Check your paperwork from 9/04. It may be the same situation I had. Module was not replaced on the recall even though description said it was; only a seal kit was added (see earlier post...check part number on your paperwork).
New paperwork states "CHECKED MOTOR OPERATION. BAD MOTOR. REPLACED MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Part number listed is 15094705 MODULE 16.064 R. Must be module/motor combined.
It probably depends on your relationship with the dealer whether they will cover. Mine was out of warranty by 6 weeks time, but still under 36K miles.

gotchya. I wonder how much one of the modules would cost if they werent going to cover it under recall. I am going to call on Monday though and present the problem to one of my friends that works at a dealer, even though hes not so high on the totem pole, maybe he can pull a string for me.
Thanks!
