what are shorties and will they mate to the exhaust piping already on the car. also should i replace heads with after market heads since car will be took apart anyway for more power any suggestions.

changing heads is expensive and a lot of work. i'd leave the stock ones on for now.
shories are just headers that bolt right up to the stock heads and midpipe, but have the benefit of larger diameter primary pipes. they're usually good for 10-15 horsepower.

a extra 10-15 hp sounds good where can i buy some ebay, auto store?

Just swapping your factory exhaust manifolds with aftermarket headers would be your best and easiest bet.
What exactly do you mean the car will be taken apart for more power? What do you have planned?

what i meant was since the exhaust manifold was going to be off could i replace them with something better but last night i was told no crack manifold i have missing nuts and bolts in manifold in manifold to exhaust piping i am taking it to the dealer tomorrow i'm beginning to wonder if the mechanic is messing with it to keep me bringing it back to him?

Jumping from a diagnosis of cracked manifold to missing/loose nuts is inappropriate. I believe the mechanic does not have his mind on his work.
Purchase a set of performance aftermarket headers. They will be better than the factory manifolds.
Pick up a copy of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords magazine. The pages are filled with quality replacement parts.
