Transmission problem ..I think!!!

I have 97 riviera(142k Miles) 3 weeks ago I got check engine light saying (P0741-Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off) I read in forums that I could drive in 3rd gear. But yesterday as I was almost home, just as I was pulling up to the house, the car stopped accelarating and I coasted in the driveway. When I put it in reverse(I get nothing), drive(I get nothing), 3,2,1(I get nothing). But if i turn car off for 5-10 seconds it will drive for only about 20 seconds and then it just revs with no foward movmentum. I fear my tranny is gone. But if so, could it be just the touqu converter or do I need to replace the whole transmission. Oh, I also replaced the transmission filter after I got the check engine code hoping this might be a cheap fix. Any help would be appreciated.
