:bricks1: I ran a carfax on my car, it came out clean, but I had an alignment done and they said it was way outta wack on drivers side, and i'm noticing my paint on rear door looks scuffed like it is wearing off?
what do I do if it has been wrecked?

well there's not much you can do but tough it out, get it fixed to make it not so noticable and sell the care and pass the problem on to someone else. thousands of cars come back clean through carfax because not everybody reports accidents or they have it fixed at local shops and no detailed paper work is done. carfax is useless, the best way is to inspect it as close as you can and take it to a mechanic that'll get an ever close at all parts to see what's been tampered with and so forth, a big give away is the missing nuts/bolts ect.. that you'll find, shops never put all the screws and stuff back in, just enough to keep it in place hence the extra parts.

Carfax only shows reported accidents. Your seller could have been hit and didn't want it on a carfax.
I know in Florida you have a case on the seller.

Nice Car!!!
and by the way, I bought it at Ford, and I've been trying to take it back but they act like it's going to be a trade in........but I don't think so....
I'm not giving in yet.

I would like to sell it but I won't get what I owe on it. It looks good though, no door dings, or rust, the inside is clean, and it does run good. I just hate to lose a lot of money.

Did you run the carfax yourself? Maybe Ford didn't show you all the report. But I don't think they would try that. It's not worth it for one GP.
Good luck

why give it back if there is nothing wrong with it.....a little scuff and alignment being out of wack is not really evidence that the car has been in an accident....

Hi Catz,
Not telling the guy to sell his car. Just told him the other owner didn't have to report anything and keep it off Carfax.
How did you make it home from KC? Everything OK with car?

If you get a chance, read my other threads...I'll give you a brief summary.... the car heats up to over 210 while idling, water pump has been changed twice, had the bolt tightened once, and the gasket resealed, and could still be leaking. Broken sway bar, brake line leaking, cv axle leaking, just replaced power steering pump 2 days ago, bolt missing from the subframe, when aligned, I was told the engine isn't sitting straight in the cradle...... and that's just off the top of my head.
other minor issues that i've fixed like door panel clips, stereo speakers don't always work, window motor, rear view mirror fell off.....and it all started about a month after I got it.
But I love my car, I'm just not sure it's safe to drive.

that's ok, but I have a new question.......how important (or not) is it to have the flywheel cover on?

I agree that CarFax aint great. I bought a 99 GP GT at an auction and the brakes were shot, so I had to replace them. Then 2 weeks after having it a buck ran out of the ditch and ran into the side of the car. The front and back fender was damaged and the glass in the drivers side mirror. My dad told me that the fenders were puttyed up so it probably was in an accident. So I went to my local Pontiac dealer to get an estimate, and the guy said that the only original part was the trunk lid. That car was a P.O.S. stuck about $2000 into it getting it fixed because everything was goin wrong.

Carfax is bad because a lot of wrecks are never reported, so never get on carfax, and you can still get a lemon with nothing you can do about it.

I alway thought if a car is great with no troubles, YOU KEEP IT. But if it needs a lot of work, and has been hit, YOU SELL IT.
Carfax is an way for honest people to sell their cars. It's the other people you have to worry about.

That's true. But I'm an honest person looking at a carfax that says my car is a good buy, no problems.
And now that I'm committed with a loan payment, and I've been trying to fix all these problems and they make it so hard, I'm upside down. Can't sell it unless I want to lose anywhere from $2000-$5000.
Trade in is only worth $5000, I owe 10k.
And now, if I put all my troubles on carfax, I will screw myself.

I might be wrong, but doesn't the seller of the car have to sign something saying the car was not hit or has no problems? I don't know, alway sell it myself.

I'm not sure, I live in Mo. and I usually sell mine myself also but this was a trade in to the dealership and as far as I know you're supposed to, and the dealership could go back on the person they got it from, but I don't think they want to fool with it. I've mentioned it a couple times and they keep giving me stupid answers, no straight ones.
And I did want to say one more thing, it's not carfax that's no good, just sometimes it doesn't do any good to get a carfax

In the State of Florida, you have 14 days to return a car, if you don't want it. But don't know how long you have had it. Of if MO has something like that. We had a radio show in Michigan, you asked different people about the law and what your rights are. If you can find something like that you may find a way out.
Good luck.

In Mo. you have 1 year to "make a lemon law claim".
I've had mine a year in Sept., but I've been taking it back over and over since the first month I bought it. Thanks!
How do you get your picture in this? Florida looks SO WARM! It's cold and crappy here. I have to put at least one picture in here.

Try this;

Florida is warm, all but a month out of the year. Two days ago it was 36 when I went to work. Right now I have the windows open. Tuesday morning they are saying it's going to be 19, in the morning. Then Friday it will be 76.
March back in the 80's. I know it's hard to think someone would say this, but I wish I was back in Michigan.
