I think the 5.4 is just a stroked version of the 4.6. So anything that'll fit on a 4.6 will fit on a 5.4. The 5.4 comes in trucks mainly, f-150s and up. Not sure if its SOHC or DOHC, but I'd imagine SOHC. Throw a set of DOHC heads on the 5.4, a good intake, cam, exhaust, and it should make some nice power.

You'll need a lot more than just motor mounts. The 5.4 block has a significantly taller deck height than the 4.6, so you need motor mounts, a new intake (or spacers to fit a 4.6 intake to a 5.4) new headers, probably some mods to the steering shaft, new motor mounts, probably a k-member too, and a cowl hood to clear it.

heck with the hood, I say bolt in a Lightning motor and let the blower stick out of the hood!

You can get the 5.4 as a sohc or dohc just like the 4.6. Vehicles like the navigator are the ones that usually get the dohc. The trucks can have a 24v 5.4(or 3v per cylender).
