Lots of Problems!!!88'Buick Century

About a month ago I bought my first car. It's a Buick Century,1988 four door Custom. It ran fine when I first bought it but found out there were more problems. First whenever I drove like about 10 miles it starts rubbling and stalled. I go to start it up again and it does start and goes into N/and Reverse but once I went into drive it stalled again. So I have to let it sit for like a half hour. It only happens for longer distance trips, not in town kind. Then I need how to fix my windows cuz they go down like .0001 mph, but that's probably simple. Then my steering is making noises and i can feel it when i turn on corners. Easy fix. Unplug your TCC Solenoid. This is a very common problem.

keep it unplugged? is it needed for anything. and this is for the stalling right?

How to fix your slow windows: The window track has built up dirt over the years causing high resistance. You need to lubricate the tracks, but if you use an oil based lubricant, it will stain.

I recrement using a bottle of RAINX instead to lubricate the tracks. This product is a glass wax in an alcohol base.

i dont know how to unplug the tcc. can someone explain it to me? and thanks for the help with the window problem.

Yes, the TCC plug is on the tranny towards the front of the car. It is near where the tranny bolts onto the motor. It is the only electrical plug in this area. I believe on this car it has two wires. And yes you can leave it unplugged if it fixes your problem. The TCC Solenoid locks up the torque converter on the highway for better mileage, most people do not notice the loss of MPG and if they do it is small. Good Luck.

As for the steering, check the fluid level.

yes the fluid was low and after i filled it up, it worked fine again. i dont know if there's a leak or anything.

also do i have to get under the car, or just under the hood.

If your steering fluid is low, check the hydraulic lines from the steering pump to the steering rack for leaks. Also check for leaks around the ends of the rack where the tie rods attach. There will be rubber boots here. Changing hoses is kind of tight work since there is not much room behind the engine to work. Changing the rack is even worse.

I have a 91 Buick Century. Is it the same? I disconnected the plug, but the speedometer is not working now. Is one the wires for that? There is a white and black wire. Can one be cut to prevent the stalling and keep the speedometer working?
