Sorry but I dont buy it. The Monte SS, most likely a new one from a guess, may not be fast but is not going to have an auto SL "jetting past him." I dont doubt you could have won just doubt how well you made the win out to be.;)

like i said reworked preformance tranny and with a engine with extrmemly low miles it still had some of its orig. juice... and it was a newer one.. but it happened how it happened but maybe he just let off but like i said it's a completely preformance tranny now and its brand new.. thats why i think i was able to jet past him

you know you shouldnt be racing with a brand new transmission in it, cause thats a real good way to f*** up your transmission real fast. You're supposed to give it about 1,000 miles of breaking in before you race it.

not anymore, in the 80's they were...they're like high 15 second cars I think...but easy and cheap to mod.

ok so how would a stock monte and a stock gt auto do?

Stock Monte SS(new one) should still beat a stock auto 3000gt auto. From the looks of things most SS run mid to low 15's. Thats 5 speed 3000 territory. And the SS are all auto.

I am stating what a stock Monte SS will run. A stock DOHC ATX is mid to high 16's usually. So mid 15's will beat mid 16's. Whats wrong with that? Hell a Monte SS would be a good run for a MTX. Geesh how hard is that to comprehend?

Woah stock ATX DOHC is not high 16, its low 16 and high 15 from every time slip i've seen. Never seen one high 16.

I have seen plenty of high 16's out of ATX DOHC's. I personally witnessed 3. My friend with a DOHC ATX Stealth ran a 16.45 with test pipe AND downpipe. THe test pipe alone knocked 3 tenths off my quarter so he was looking at a high 16 stock. Also look over at 3si, plenty of people are reporting high 16's out of their ATX DOHC's.

Well I ran a 14.1 with my 96 vr4...when I wasn't an experienced racer...I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that have run high 16s in an auto dohc...but that doesn't mean the car is a high 16 car. I've always heard it quoted at 16 1/4. +/- a few .1s but if your seeing people that are running high 16s with an ATX DOHC with testpipe and downpipe...chances are there car has already seen its best days, or they aren't the best racers.
Edit: I know this has been debated in other posts, and on 3si...I don't mean to stir up a debate...let's just leave it at, there are factory freaks both good and bad, people have a wide range of times with the ATX DOHC....but just remember there are other things to think of like, driver ability, altitude, and how the car is running
